Riding the Katy Trail

I have a very difficult time getting myself to stop when I am riding a bike--I just want to keep going. But when I came upon this scene, I had to stop, take out my phone, and capture it. The Katy Trail (the trail on the right of the photo) goes on for 240 miles through the woods, along the banks of the Missouri River, and through farmland like this. Anytime you want to come out to Missouri to go for a ride...

Way cool Steve!

The KATY trail is on my to-do list, but not super high on the list. Last year my wife and I did a sample (couple of days) of the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) and the C&O canal trails where they meet in Cumberland Maryland. The GAP was good riding. The C&O not so much.

You can see some of the tours we've done on Crazy Guy on a Bike.

Hey Chris.
I am at work right now and this computer won't let me access your site. I will check it out from home. I was a total snob about the KATY trail until recently. I never rode it because I heard it was flat and that there were a lot of drunks and little kids on it. Well it is flat. but it is beautiful. You really only see a lot of other people in a few places along the trail. It is a 30 minute drive from where I live. But even better is to take AMTRAK west ($10 and you bring your bike right on the train with you) and then ride back. For multi-day trips there are B&Bs all over the trail.

Hey Mark,

I did an out and back 63 miles total that day. It poured for part of the ride and the winds were horrendous at times. My bike and I were both coated with mud by the time I finished. I had a great time!
