Jusr ran 220s for the first time in months. 42, 42, 43, 42. Slow as they were, it was faster than I was expecting. My dream of breaking 5 minutes for the mile lives on. All I need to do is drop about 5 seconds per 220 and run 8 in a row without stopping.

Good way of looking at the 5-minute mile, and I'm glad you're back on the track again! Get a picture next time you are there, if you can. Would Harriet be willing to take a picture of you running, even if it was just outside your house on the street?
Anyway, I was just starting to lose hope regarding a sub-5 mile. When you look at the age graded tables (http://misweb.cbi.msstate.edu/~rpearson/tables/mendist/men01m50.html), they give percentages. For a 52 year old to run a sub 5 mile is 87%. Anything above 80% is considered national caliber, and over 90% is considered world class. 100% is world record pace. Not sure I agree with this, as my 5:20 from last year would be considered national caliber, and it really wasn't. At least several local guys could beat me in my age group. Anyway, according to these age tables, a sub-5 mile is getting mighty close to world class. I don't think either of us is at that level. However, I still plan to try!
